Post #8 - To the Gimped Life
For the 3rd M.M.A class.......I did NOT attended.....What I attend was my crutches.. its been 2 weeks and 1 day since my injury and it is still painful but i can kinda bend it now. I can go up stairs and bend it but not down for the life of me unless I do a funny hop! overall the only excersize i have been exposed to is.. yes you guessed it.... my crutches... my tricepts are getting a lil stronger and my hands and ribs are bruised OUCH is rrrrriiight! Im hoping that my injury will heal in 3-4 weeks like it was said to and im going to get a third opinion cause people these days dont know what there talking about unless you wait 6 months plus for an MRI or pay through the roof for it, or you get multiple possibilities and then u wonder which one, if any, is the correct diagnosis. Uugh! to the gimped life.

M.M.A Class #2
SO, after the first class of mma then me revisiting that same day, being tuesday, and the next being..you guessed it, wednesday! ive injured my knee doing grappling. its been a week since that happened and still in pain. So this 2nd in-class session, i was obviously unable to do some things because who knew that you need yours knees for almost everything! I do now and boy oh boy is it apparent to me now! one small turn and your done! Little devastated because that means im out of physical activity for a while, but tryin to make this a fast recovery and so are my fellow teachers. They got me to go to the hospital ad get the crutches I was supposed to days after my injury but never did. Also the team agreed that if they spot me not using the crutches they may have to kick the other knee! obviously they would not but there encouragement is definetly taken to heart. Thanks to my dear, Amazing friends, Teachers and peers for the support at school! Very appreciative of any help you have provided my stubborn self :)
M.M.A Class #1
First MMA class was alot of fun, learned a few new techniques and really got into it. Was so into it that I went back to try out a free trial that very same day! I could see myself pursuing this in the future when I have a little more free time! I encourage people to join a class at least for self defense. Probably would be the best money every spent on fitness depending on who you are and what you into I guess. WaPOW :P just kidding :)
5km Run Today! Late post!
Our Phys Ed class did a 5 km run 2 weeks ago and I thought it was going to be a lot harder than it was. I think that all the work i have put into CrossFit and PE and my physical well-beng paid off to be able to do that at a steady pace without many stops! Felt good being able to push through and do something ive never had set out to do officially. Thanks for being my partner Drew! Teamwork!
Late Post - "Food Matters"- 'Prevent ilness, reverse disease & maintain optimal health ... Naturally'
After watching this fascinating video, I have walked away with a little more reinforcing knowledge about things I had heard before. Last year I watched another documentary that also showed a program of eating raw vegetables and fruits and super-foods, like nuts and berries etc and their amazing affects on curing or preventing and maintaining your body's health.
The most important lesson I will take from this is to continue staying clear of fast foods and uppig my intake of raw vegetables, rather than cooked. Oh and DRINK MORE WATER! that is a big one i really need to start doing more of!
A concrete idea that i will implement in my life to improve my health and family as well as the community is to encourage more raw vegetables, fruit though i dont really cook fruit and eat more super-foods!

Fitness - Active Living - Self Assessments
Okay To.Be.Honest, since the beginning of class I have been more than ready, physically, mentally, and emotionally. I have been looking forward to this year’s P.E since lasts years P.E! I look forward to participating in many activities (who doesn’t like to run around and burn off some steam?) In the classes I have attended aside from the few days I missed due to the horrible removal of my 3 complicated little wisdom teeth, I have done my best to make an effort because I know, I myself will be the one benefitting at the end of the day...plus then I can make room for my sweet tooth if I work hard prior or after. That being said the two P.E classes I had after my return from the recovery days, were my lowest participation efforts since the beginning. There’s something about having a lack of bone from my mouth in order to get teeth pried out that makes me nervous about coming in contact with a fast flying soft ball...just sayin..
In class I contribute I by being, positive, though sometimes I do bug about the lesson in a joking matter of course because in all seriousness I do take P.E very seriously!...seriously. I bring a positive attitude to the course because I am all for new activities and challenges and try to amp up the spirit in others, encouraging them to join in if they are chillaxing on the bleachers. My interactions with other students are respectful because I know that P.E might not be for everyone but if you can make the day brighter by socializing with everyone then it helps because then everyone is included!
To describe my participation during class, I would say I push myself until I can’t be easily mobile, which has resulted in me learning to ice my muscles! Physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually I push myself to do better (go hard or go home! I do not want to be the one sitting on the couch watching The Doctors at the age of 30 wondering what the fastest way to get active is! No short cuts! Slow and steady wins the race. Correct?) Since I’ve set my goal, (the one about the 15 strict push-ups) I have made some progress because of Crossfit and outside of school, where I try to do push-ups when I can... it’s been very busy in my day to day life. Putting that aside, am I on track with my goal... unfortunately I didn’t think strict push-ups would be this difficult. Got a bit of work to do but I do think I will have to extend my due date.. Sadly!
In terms of leadership roles... I will continue to be positive and work as a team even though I can be competitive but in a good way of course. I think the best leaders in class are the ones who go with the flow and accept what needs to be done.
(In case anyone is wondering what kind of structure I am using to write this assessment, I’m looking at a page my teacher wrote with various questions for our classmates to follow in this Self-Assessment)
As far as improvements go in terms of what I am most proud of is... Sticking to something I enjoy. I chose to join Crossfit because, 1st I love a challenge and second it gives me something to do that ads even more productity in my life... and that being said, finding time in my productive, hectic days...trying to blog consistently has been a struggle. I will try to take a few extra minutes to quickly report out of the week and comment on my peer's blogs as well.
If I were to give myself a grade, I would say 88-90% because I bust my butt in class 95% of the time and encourage everyone to push themselves! Thooough I do forget to write in my blog sometimes! ma bad :/
